Reusing Coke bottles

Why do we throw faster than its' material life ? Plastic stays for millions of years on this planet trashing our sources of drinking water and food. Why not we put it to better use before actually trashing. For the past 4 years I have not had coke / pepsi . But we deal with these bottles in our premises / homes because our friends and family like to consume them. We can stop buying small plastic trays to grow seedlings, instead think of novel ways of reuse.. This small carrot sapling will give  food from our compost ..
